Payment for Barn Buddies is expected the first session of the month for ALL sessions signed up for that month. A missed session will be rescheduled if possible, but is based on horse availability. Your horse must be reserved with payment. A Barn Buddy spot will not be held without payment.
A schedule will be sent out the third week of the month for the upcoming month. You have the opportunity to adjust your schedule to meet your needs, but all dates reserved for you are your financial responsibilty regardless of attendence. No shows or cancellations are not refunded.
You may pay in person the first day you are scheduled with check or cash; or use Pay Pal. The Pay Pal rate is higher to include the fees that PayPal takes out.
Some of our horses have a weight limit. If you appear to be near that limit, we WILL weigh you. This is not to embarrass you, and you WILL weigh more with boots and heavy clothing and helmet. This is for our horse's protection. Thank you for your understanding.
The following is our lesson contract which is a requirement to participate in our activities. We have copies on site available for you to sign.
Horsemanship Lessons are to be paid at the beginning of each month, in full prior to the start of the first scheduled lesson. If payment is not received before the start of the first scheduled lesson, the above mentioned rider will be dropped from horsemanship lessons until payment is received for all scheduled lessons.
Monthly schedules vary. A schedule will be emailed the third week of the month for the upcoming month. You have the option to request changes to meet your needs. If you do not respond it will be assumed the schedule is acceptable to you. Dates reserved for you are your financial responsibility regardless of attendance. Make-up lessons can be rescheduled if a horse is available in another class at the discretion of the horsemanship instructor.
I understand that proper attire must be worn for horsemanship lessons which is to be pants, shirt, shoes/boots with at least a half inch heel (this is a requirement unless medically approved by a physician). The Whole Horse Place has some boots and helmets available to use.
I further understand that The Whole Horse Place horsemanship instructor reserves the right to discipline a rider. Some examples of reasons for disciplinary actions: disruption to lesson, behavior problems that are unacceptable or unsafe, sexual comments and conduct, disrespect to instructor and/or volunteers, failure to follow program stated policies, rules or instructions, etc..
I further accept that The Whole Horse Place horsemanship instructor reserves the right to release a rider due to unsafe situations, physical stress to the rider resulting from riding and/or any safety/medical problems that may arise. This type of release from the program will require a prorated refund be issued.
Rider’s information files will be held in confidentiality and only shared when necessary to assure the safety of a rider in the lesson or during an official incident review.
“WARNING” Under Washington Law, an equine activity sponsor or equine professional is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine activities resulting exclusively from the inherent risks of equine activities.
I am aware of the inherent risks of horseback riding. I further understand that I must be careful while on the property of The Whole Horse Place and particularly while horses are being handled.The Whole Horse Place cannot and does not assume any liability for accidents, injury, or death to person or persons. I further have reviewed and understand the content of Washington Liability Law which is posted at barn entrance. Likewise I accept full responsibility for friends and visitors accompanying myself on The Whole Horse Place’s property and Alpine Evergreen Properties.
Lesson Policy Standard:
Pee Wee Barn Buddy lessons are 60 minutes in length and consist of all aspects of horsekeeping; from haltering, grooming, saddling, riding, round pen lessons, feeding, education, cleaning stalls, and various barn chores.
Barn Buddy lessons are 2, 3 or 4 hours in length, and consist of all aspects of horsekeeping; from haltering, grooming, saddling, riding, round pen lessons, feeding, education, cleaning stalls, and various barn chores.
Mom and Me classes are 90 minutes in length and consist of all aspects of horsekeeping; from haltering, grooming, saddling, riding, round pen lessons, feeding, education, cleaning stalls, and various barn chores.
Additionally, all lessons are weather and ”horse health” related, and activities are based on each class and what is appropriate at that time in consideration of the weather and what the horses and students need.
The riding instructor additionally has the responsibility of safety for riders, volunteers, and horses at all times so therefore, the instructor has the right to deviate from the above lesson outline when safety is a concern.
Example: the lesson could be full time as barn management-classroom activities, grooming, tacking up, types of tack, tack cleaning, etc..
General Conduct Policy For Parents, Riders, And Guests During The Whole Horse Place Lesson Time:
Important areas used during horsemanship lesson
•Parent/Rider waiting area is located by the gate entrance to the round pen.
Arrival to lesson
•If previous lesson is in progress or out on a trail ride, please find a helmet and boots, and start cleaning an empty stall or wait in the tent by the round pen.
• No umbrellas while horses are present.
• No ball playing, tag games, or fast type movement games allowed before, during or after lesson scheduled times.
• After lesson the rider will be returned to their parent, guardian or ride.
The Whole Horse Place disciplinary policy has been developed to ensure a safe and conducive environment for all involved in our riding program.
The Whole Horse Place’s horsemanship instructor has the right to discipline a rider, parent/guardian, and/or volunteer
1. First offense, if this is a rider, he or she will be removed from the horse.
2. Second offense,if a rider, he or she will be dismissed from the horsemanship lesson for that day.
3. Third offense is final warning. The rider will be removed from horse and suspended from further lessons with The Whole Horse Place.
4. If the offender is a parent, guardian or volunteer, they will follow the same disciplinary policy and can be dropped from the program on the third offense, in the case of a parent or guardian this will include the rider.
Examples of reasons for disciplinary actions: disruption to class, behavior problems that are unacceptable or unsafe, disrespect to instructor and/or volunteers, failure to follow program stated policies, rules, instructions, etc..
Immediate Termination Policy:
A rider, parent or guardian, volunteer, or instructor will be immediately removed from the The Whole Horse Place’s program for sexual comments or sexual conduct.
• NO sassing of parents.
• All gates and stall doors to be kept closed.
• No entry into feed/hay storage areas without permission.
• No climbing, sitting, or standing on stall doors, fences, or gates (this includes round pen).
• Smoking is prohibited.
• No consumption of alcohol beverages or drugs.
• You are responsible for your friends and visitors conduct and safety while on the property of The Whole Horse Place.
• No running around horses or riding areas.
• No horses to be handled in or out of the stalls without supervision, if needed.
• Always respect others when speaking or socializing.
I the undersigned have read and understand the above contract plus all the The Whole Horse Place’ policies and rules which I agree to abide by in total and I have received a copy of this contract which includes the policies and The Whole Horse Place rules. I further understand that if any of The Whole Horse Place policies or rules are not followed The Whole Horse Place has the right to cancel this contract in full without any
refund of moneys remaining for this session.
